Why is it important to recycle printer cartridges?

More than a million empty cartridges are thrown away every day into the trash. It is estimated that about 400 million cartridges are thrown away in a year. The environmental impact of throwing away this many cartridges is substantial and contributes to about 400 million pounds of solid waste into our landfills. If we can recycle just 10% more printer cartridges, 40 million less cartridges will go to landfills. This is equivalent to taking 20,000 cars off the road for one year!
