CARTRIDGE NOT RECOGNIZED
I. ERROR INDICATORS
a.) This error is indicated by a RED light in the printer.
b.) You can also see the following message in the Status Monitor.
II. EXPLANATION
This happens when the cartridge chips are not recognized by the printer. Possible reason is that the cartridges are not seated correctly in the cartridge carrier. It is also possible that the chips in the cartridge have stains or dirt that prevents the printer from recognizing the cartridge.
III. HOW TO SOLVE IT
Kindly perform each of the following until the problem is solved:
1.) Turn off your printer and turn it on after 10 seconds. Check if the problem is resolved.
2.) If the first solution does not work, press the button in the printer (with red light) in order to move the cartridges in the replacement position. Once you can see the cartridge, look for the white button on top of the cartridges (shown below) and press it for 10 seconds.
Press the button in the printer (with red lights) several times until all the cartridges are by-passed. Turn off the printer and then turn it on again. This should already solve the problem.
3.) If the problem persists, try to remove the cartridges from the printer head and check for stain or dirt on the chips at the back of the cartridge.
a. Clean the chipset by rubbing it with eraser. You can also use a sharp object to remove the stain (rust) but be careful not to damage the chipset.
b. Once done, place them back and make sure you hear the click sound when putting the cartridges to indicate that the cartridges are properly fit and the chips makes contact with the pins on the cartridge carrier
c. If this doesn’t solve the problem, please contact us.
IV. HOW TO AVOID IT
Make sure that the cartridge is tightly fit on the printer head. Avoid moving the printer from one location to another.
